I hate putting Dark Eldar together. I’ve assembled one jetbike and rider and my fingers are covered in superglue. 😡

If you plan your scheme wisely your mini will be stunning without the details too.

Dammit, I wish I could paint like this.

Found this picture today and thought it’d be neat to show you lot.
I use this same technique of having an intermediate step of silver when I have been painting the purple on my jetbikes and Talos; makes it just… pop! Especially in comparison to the purple on the infantry’s leather and the sails of the raiders.
I’m finding that the more confident and better that I am getting at doing the basic stuff, the happier I am to play about and experiment with different techniques now. Used to hate painting, now it’s one of the most relaxing things I do.
Looking at this again today and I think I’ll use this method for the next squad of Khorne Bezerkers. Too late for the first set.
Avoiding painting my Dark Eldar? Moi? How can you say such a thing? 😥
I’d really kill for a light-box, or at least a functioning living room overhead light. In the interim, group photo! The one-thousand point bunch for Tuesday.
Touch ups needed on all of the skiffs, so I’m going to introduce them to the hair-drier technique that I’ve perfected on the Talos and Reavers.
Things I would like:
A display cabinet to keep the dust away (taking a leaf out of Amenhetop IV’s book).
Proper camera gear; tripod, macro filter, backgrounds, light box.
My house to be clean enough for the landlord to come down without suffering trauma. Clearly we have our priorities right.
I second all of your wants list. In that order.
Also: nice paint job!
Dark Eldar Harlequin Shadowseer by ~Room3b
My Harlequin Shadowseer. I’m really pleased with how the robes came out but I’m not too fussed about the rest.
The last Dark Eldar stuff I’ll do for a while because I’ve started a Chaos Space Marines army with my other half and I’m busy with that. Space Marines are so much easier to paint than those fiddly Dark Eldar.
I haven’t done any painting for a while, so I bought a Harlequin Shadowseer to paint a couple of days ago (y’know instead of painting one of the dozens of models I already have).
And you know what? Now I remember why I haven’t done any painting in ages.
Because Dark Eldar? Are the smallest, fiddliest, most detail-ridden sodding little models in the entire bloody pantheon of the 40K universe.
Why the ever-loving fuck did I pick these guys as my first army?
